Our Class Schedule Monday - Thursday Morning class - 8:32- 11:42 Afternoon class = 11:29 - 3:38 |
Here is a quick summary of our schedule.
Morning Routine – The children are responsible for taking off their own coats and putting away their lunch boxes and folders. They then need to complete 3 simple table activities to get them ready for school. After the table activities, the children may go to the bathroom, eat breakfast or play.
Circle – We work on sitting and participating in a group while we sing songs and read books. The children are working on imitating the actions and completing the fill-ins for songs.
Centrum – We participate in gross motor songs and activities out in the common area of the Teal Pod. We are targeting gross motor skills, imitation skills and engagement.
Partner Time – This is another name for Centers. At this time we have 5 centers. They are play area, fine motor, requesting (paired play and requesting), gross motor and program area (working on skills that need more attention).
Outside play / Recess – We go outside to the playground. Recess involves free play, following play schedules and working on social and play skills.
Lunch – The children are responsible for getting their own lunches, opening their lunchboxes and containers and asking for help when needed. The children are encouraged to eat independently. If a child needs help during this time we teach them the skills that are needed to complete the task.
Motor Room / Gym – This is another great opportunity for the children to get their exercise while working on following directions. When we first enter the room we sit on the floor waiting for our peers, then when the signal is given they start to run. Finally, they make a choice and play.
Book Club - We start out by looking at books independently. I then read a book to the children and we complete a fine motor activity that is related to the book.
Library –When the children enter the Library they get to pick out a book to read individually. Then the Librarian reads them 1-3 books. After reading they have a chance to play on the computers, complete puzzles and read books.
